About this listing

Nova Solar, Inc. is listed on Top Solar Services as a solar contractor serving Falls Church, Virginia. The 135 verified reviews on this page reflects real client experiences. Use the information on this page — the verified review count, sub-ratings on quality, schedule, cost, and willingness-to-refer, the company's services and pricing snapshot, and the contact details — alongside your own due diligence on licensing and insurance before requesting a quote.

Solar contractors in this category should carry a current state contractor license, $1M+ general liability and workers' compensation insurance, and verified reviews from recent projects in your area.

In Virginia, solar contractors are typically licensed at the state level for electrical or general construction work, and the most-cited credentials homeowners check on this page are NABCEP certification, manufacturer training (Tesla, Enphase, SolarEdge), and verified workers' compensation coverage. Confirm Nova Solar, Inc.'s state contractor license number with your Virginia licensing board, verify any NABCEP credentials at nabcep.org, and request proof of general liability and workers' compensation insurance certificates that name your project address before signing a contract. For larger projects, ask for two or three references from recently completed installs of similar size and call them about quality, schedule, and warranty service experience.

What to expect from this contractor

Typical project timeline. Most residential installs run 8–14 weeks end to end: about a week for the site survey and design, 2–6 weeks waiting on permits from the local Authority Having Jurisdiction, one to three days of physical installation, then 2–5 weeks for inspection and utility permission to operate. The panels go up fast; the paperwork is what sets the schedule. Ask Nova Solar, Inc. for the specific permitting turnaround in Falls Church, because local inspection backlogs are the single most common source of schedule slippage and vary widely between neighboring jurisdictions.

What the quote process looks like. A serious solar installation quote is delivered in writing after a site assessment — not as a verbal number on a first phone call. Expect a written proposal with an itemized bill of materials (panel and inverter make and model), a production estimate modeled in PVWatts, Aurora, or Helioscope showing shading and tilt assumptions, the full price before and after any incentives, and financing terms disclosed separately from the equipment price. Get at least three comparable written proposals so you are comparing equipment and scope rather than sales pressure, and be wary of any bid that expires within 24 hours or requires more than 10% down before work begins.

Credentials to confirm. Before signing, verify the state contractor license number with the Virginia licensing board, confirm any NABCEP certification directly at nabcep.org, and request certificates of general liability and workers' compensation insurance that name your project address. A contractor who hesitates to produce these documents has told you what you need to know.

How warranty service works. Three separate warranties apply: the panel manufacturer's product and performance warranty (typically 25 years), the inverter warranty (10–25 years depending on platform), and the contractor's own workmanship warranty covering labor and roof penetrations. Only the last one depends on Nova Solar, Inc. remaining in business, which is why a company's track record in Falls Church matters as much as the warranty length on paper. Confirm in writing who to call for a service claim, what the response window is, and whether the workmanship warranty transfers if you sell the home.

Local solar market context: Virginia

Rates, costs, and payback. Solar economics in Falls Church are driven primarily by your current electricity rate, your annual kWh usage, available roof area and orientation, and local utility export policy. Installed residential pricing across most US markets runs $2.30–$3.20 per watt before incentives, with smaller systems at the upper end because fixed permitting and mobilization costs spread across fewer watts.

Incentives available in 2026. The federal Section 25D residential tax credit expired on December 31, 2025, so homeowners purchasing a system outright no longer claim the 30% credit. Section 48E remains available for business-owned and third-party-owned systems, making lease and power-purchase-agreement structures more competitive than they were previously. State, utility, and municipal programs vary considerably — ask Nova Solar, Inc. which programs you currently qualify for and confirm each one independently before signing.

What to verify locally. Ask about the net metering or net billing tariff your utility will place you on, the permitting turnaround for your jurisdiction, and whether any property-tax or sales-tax exemption applies to the added home value. These three answers determine your payback period more than panel brand selection does.

Nova Solar was our radar through word of mouth that it was a first-rate company to purchase and install our solar panels in the northern Virginia area. And boy did they live up to those recommendations !! Nova Solar did an outstanding job from initial quotes, explaining all aspects of the contract, and contacting all agencies for permits and inspections. The installers came on time, did the work efficiently and in very adverse weather conditions...all without any issues. I am very proud of the leadership, the workers and the staff. Nova Solar kept us well informed through each step of the process and we felt the confidence of using this company that truly took care of us. The complete and final documentation they provided was an added bonus. This is a first-rate company !!

If you are looking for great customer service from start to finish on the installation of solar panels on your property, look no further than the team at NOVA Solar.

I received hands on attention from my first conversation with LB and felt like he carefully listened to my needs and wants. That allowed him to work with his team to design a solar system that maximizes the amount of electricity our home can generate, while minimizing how much of it can be viewed from the street.

From that point forward, the NOVA Solar team proactively communicated with me during every step of the installation process as well as the system activation.

Every member of the team that I engaged with was very professional and respectful. Not just in how they performed their work, but how they answered all my questions. I was completely impressed by the customer experience I’ve had with Nova Solar and wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone that cares about service over price.

From our first interaction to the final installation, working with Nova Solar was a fantastic experience. Communication was clear and consistent throughout the process, and they were always quick to respond to any questions I had.

On installation day, the team arrived just before daybreak and had everything wrapped up by early afternoon. They operated like a well-oiled machine—each team member knew exactly what to do, and the whole process ran like clockwork. It honestly felt like watching a finely tuned military operation.

Despite their efficiency, the crew never made me feel like I was in the way. They took the time to answer my questions and explain what they were doing.

I'm extremely pleased with the outcome and would recommend Nova Solar without hesitation. After researching several companies, I’m very glad I chose this one.

I had a fantastic experience with Nova Solar, and highly recommend their team. Jake was my project manager, and he had amazing patience with me as I peppered him with MANY questions and requests for quotes for multiple different configurations while we worked on the design.

Unlike a few other vendors that I requested quotes from, there was never any pressure from Nova Solar to sign a contract, or push me into more than I needed.

Trip was the lead on the installation team and was fantastic. The team showed up on schedule at 6:30am, and was done with my 28-panel installation before noon. Then Trip returned on very short notice a few days later when Fairfax County came out to do the inspection.

Once the inspection was completed, Nova Solar sent a wrap-up package with everything I needed with documentation on my system, info on monitoring, SRECs, warranties, and even the documents that I'll need for federal and state tax credits. Very impressive!

I recently got solar panels installed by Nova Solar. The entire experience was very professional and smooth. Highly recommended! You know you are in good hands when the communication is prompt and thorough. LB was the project manager and he did an excellent job keeping me informed. Trip led the installation team. Being an engineer myself, I was thoroughly impressed with how clean they maintained the work sites, their tidy cable management, custom-built shelves inside their trailer to organize everything etc. I got to go up the roof to see the installation, and it was really good! I got my system turned on just a few days ago and so far the system is performing well with no issues (took about a month after installation to receive permission to operate from PEPCO)!
